How to avoid "mouse arm"?

"Mouse hand" is not a buzzword any more, but have you heard of "mouse arm"? German experts found that monotonous movement such as clicking can lead to tendon and nerve system strain. Iof you keep an incorrect way of using the mouse, you can suffer from symptoms of "rsi", namely "mouse arm".

When we work in front of the computer, the hand with mouse will make the arm hang up and have to burden the full weight of a part of the body. Plus the poor posture or non- standarded office tables and chairs, etc, it can cause damage to your neck, forearms, hand muscle, tendon and nerves, leading to pain, weakness, numbness, or impaired motor function. In the long term, it may also cause nerve fiber tissue inflammation.

Now that life and work cannot go without computer, what can we do in order to avoid mouse arm?

First, select the mouse size which should be suitable to user's hand size. In this way, when holding the mouse, the arm can exert less strength. Secondly, change the habits of using computers and computer settings. Use your left and right arm interchangeably, avoid long-term working with only your right hand or left hand lest there is strain;

Second, many program instructions can be done by pressing the keys, for example, we can change double clicking settings to clicking the mouse wheel or with the turn pages with mouse wheel etc. Using keyboard shortcuts, voice control system, auxiliary tablets and other accessories more often can effectively reduce the clicking times of the mouse. In addition, you should increase the times of intervals after staying in front of the computer for a long period of time. Do more stretching exercises to relax your hands and arms. If there appeares stinging pain, numbness, stiffness, weakness or other symptoms to your forearm and hand, you should go to hospital in time for treatment in case of permanent damage.
