The colors of toothpaste can affect teeth luster

Ms. Chen who live in Harbin told reporters, every time she uses the blue speedy whitening toothpaste, she feels something left uncleaned in the mouth. Sometimes there will be blue remains on the teeth. Experts say there are only two ways of whitening the teeth, namely removing splashes on the tooth surface and improving the tooth brightness. The former requires one to go to the hospital for treatment, the latter to use whitening agent to oxidize and decompose discoloration in order to achieve the purpose of whitening the teeth. Toothpaste compositions are mainly friction agent, foaming agent, moisturizing agent, thickening agent, preservative, aromatic agent, sweetening agent and water, among which only friction agent and foaming agent have direct cleaning effect on the teeth and the effect is very limited and because the toothpaste can stay for very limited time in the mouth. For exogenous splash, it is impossible to clean them off brushing the teeth for only several times. The blue toothpaste only covers the yellow teeth with blue color which producing an illusion of the teeth are whiter. Colored toothpaste contains edible pigment. Although it does no harm to humans, but the efficacy is not satisfactory. Some toothpaste contains dye pigment, use for a long time will pollute tooth surface, making the teeth lose their luster and affect teeth beauty.
Experts say that the basic efficacy of toothpaste is cleaning. All the other effects are just additional which are not important. When selecting the toothpaste, we focus on the quality of it's friction agent. The friction agent with aluminum hydroxide and calcium hydrogen phosphate comes first, with silica comes the second and with calcium carbonate comes the last. In addition, particles in different kinds of toothpaste have different sizes. Tubes with small particles have less damage to the tooth surface. For ordinary people, a tube of ordinary white toothpaste is the best. Most of the ordinary toothpaste contains borneol, clove oil, menthol, spearmint, thyme and sweet phenol which helps prevent oral diseases without side effects. Yet for some "functional toothpaste", if it is improperly used, many side effects may be induced. The medical contains in the toothpaste may cause dysbacteriosis in the oral cavity and some may enter the intestines. Long-term use of calcium toothpaste may increase calcium ion concentration in the oral cavity, inducing the dental calculus formation; hypertension patients should be cautious with salt-contained toothpaste.
